Paddle blind, also known as spade blind, is a special fitting for physical isolation of pipelines. Compared with spectacle blind, it features a simpler structure, consisting of a circular plate and an extended handle, shaped similar to a table tennis racket.
Functionally, it is not as flexible as a spectacle blind, yet it serves a clear purpose at a lower cost. It is suitable for pipelines that do not require frequent switching between open and closed status.

Q: Is a paddle blind always purchased together with a paddle spacer?
A: It depends. If the pipeline is permanently blocked and will not be put into service again, only a paddle blind is required. If it is for temporary maintenance, it shall be purchased together with a matching paddle spacer.
Q: How to choose between a paddle blind and a blind flange?
A: Paddle blind must be installed between two mating flanges. It costs much less than a blind flange and allows flexible disassembly & assembly.
Blind flanges are more suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature working conditions.
Q: Where are SS 316L paddle blinds commonly applied?
A: SS 316L paddle blinds are widely used in petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries. However, they are not recommended for services with strongly corrosive or strongly oxidizing media.
